Diabetes: How serious and widespread ?

Diabetes Mellitus, especially type 2 diabetes is due to our own lifestyle and dietary habits. It is said "You are what you eat"So we must take care of our food habits and lifestyle before it is too late.In another 20 years,India is going to be the diabetes capital of the world. Not because of the very high prevalence of diabetes in India(It is not low either),but because of shear number of people afflicted with this problem. So If we do not wake up early about this reality,we do have a huge catastrophe at hand later.
I shall in days to come, advise you all about the proper diet ,lifestyle and other relevant things in this blog.Hope you all would find this useful.

  1. Dr.Prabhakar is an outstanding Physician and Diabetologist who has vast knowledge and experiences in the field of Diabetes. I'm sure he'll provide most updated and excellent care to his patients and provide some structured educational programmes on a regular interval for patients and at risk population. This will help to achieve adequate glycaemic control that will delay the complications of diabetes and the education will provide the patients an opportunity to know their disease and knowledge on diet, exercise and medication.
In DPP study we see 58% population at risk of diabetes called prediabetes prevented diabetes just by lifestyle changes. So lifestyle changes like ideal diet, moderate intensity exercise, 30 min/day, at least 5 days in a week can prevent diabetes. Ideal BMI is important and can achieve by lifestyle changes.
